STEWARDSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Picture the charm of a graceful Asheville, North Carolina neighborhood in the early nineteen hundreds. It's a Spring day in Asheville, a hundred ago, and you are relaxing on your side porch, sipping a lemonade, and listening to the laughter of children playing in the yard.

Tonight you and the family will "take your constitutional" (walk) over
to the nearby Biltmore Estate built just a few years before your own home. Maybe you'll retrieve your brand new Model T from the carriage house and ride there, instead. You just love the spiffy style.

A Colonial residence, stately and symmetrical, carriage house to the rear and huge trees shading the grounds awaits you today. With variances, it could be a perfectly situated Homestay.
The kitchen is bright and inviting.
Just entering this room could inspire
even a timid chef.

Have breakfast there, or step outside for coffee and sweet rolls on the deck shaded by trees.
Majestic trees & inviting decks,
as you can see the photo(above).
You will be so pleased that your 3,000+ sq. ft. MASTER CRAFTED century-old Colonial already has been the recipient of tender care, as evidenced in every room in this historic home. From the wall coverings to the light fixtures, the stewards of this property have spared no expense to dignify this gem. This amazing residence is in EXCELLENT SHAPE and while updated, maintains its original character... HARDWOOD FLOORS, ANTIQUE FIXTURES, PLASTER CROWN MOLDING.

We were so impressed with the quality of this property, that we could hardly wait to get to our offices to let Y'All know that it is now on the market and ready for your creative touches. There's a BIG side lot, and plenty of room to create Guest Quarters upstairs at the carriage house. Close to the Biltmore Estate and to Alt 25, it has much to offer the lover of historic residences.

A RARE FIND. $889,000.

Steph~
There is just something about the craftsmanship in an historic home that is hard to find in many contemporary properties. Coming into the foyer, for example, you find there is plenty of room to meet and hug your family and friends...and off to either side of the foyer are living spaces to enjoy a leisurely dining experience and conversation.
Sally~
I guess we'll just have to visit YOU!
Jane Anne,
What a lovely pictorial essay on this charming home.
Love the idyllic setting and the warmth this home exudes. Being from New England I have always had a soft spot for Colonials! I hope you find just the right buyer to appreciate and care for this gem!

Ginger~
I rarely see the quality that we noted as we went from room-to-room in this special home. The kitchen was actually so welcoming that we all just stood and smiled...it was hard to leave!...but each room felt that way...I became a fan of colonials all over again.
Stephanie~
I know what you mean about older homes. Here in Asheville we are so fortunate to attract others who feel as you do. Many of the older homes have been restored to their former glory.
THANKS for your comments!
JaneAnne - you are a realtor to die for! I feel like you just took me on a personal tour. Does the car come with the house (ha!)?
And congrats on Post 200!
Mary~
Although I am a land specialist (horse farms and large acreages for conservation-eco-development) there are a few special homes that simply speak to me! This is one of them. It is amazing to be inside a home that was master-crafted at a time when workmanship and materials were of the finest quality. It is a delight to find such a masterpiece where the owners have been stewards of this treasure and have lived in it with loving care.
JaneAnne,
What a beautiful home. There are a lot of pretty historic homes around Asheville. I would love to buy an old farmhouse in our own area on some land and then restore it!

Hi JaneAnne - I included this post in this week's Localism Week in Review. Nicely done!!

Rita~
Thanks for letting me know about-your interest in restoring historic homes/properties! That is something we share. And you are correct...Asheville is known for amazing historic homes and for a sentiment of stewardship that has allowed these treasures life in 2007...
Ann~ THANK YOU so much!
Chrystina~ I know what you mean...There is a sense of place and history and CHARM!
