Eco-Friendly Real Estate Professionals: IMPACT & Trends and The 100th Monkey- Part I 
Years ago, the "100th Monkey" theory was widely popular and often quoted. It went like this: if, one by one, a hundred monkeys on a distant island learn how to use sticks for picking bananas the knowledge of picking bananas with sticks all of a sudden becomes an integral part of monkey consciousness. All monkeys everywhere all around the world will then be privy to this knowledge and be able to use sticks to that end.
Does the principle of a vanguard few preparing a shift in consciousness apply to humankind as well?
If you look at the impact eco-friendly real estate professionals may/could/do have, you might be inclined to answer in the affirmative.
Can those same professionals inspire changes that contribute to local communities and to the larger community as well? Just look at what this small (1,000+ member) group at Active Rain offers. You may discover that anyone can be an agent of change. Of course, the more dedicated to what you are doing you are, the more impact you will have.

janeAnne ~ I wish it was that easy. I have been talking to some lenders about eco-loans -- and there are issues with the lenders and the appraisers. We have a way to go here in So. NH.
janeAnne, it makes sense to me, but like Joan I'm just not seeing the eco loans happening.
I have always been a believer in subversion. I am interested in the ultimate outcome, not necessarily the package it comes in and since my particular green niche is residential resale- aka Recycled Housing- my favorite "eco-loan" is the 203 program. Manythe basics for a modest home like upgrading windows, adding insulation, tank less or recirculating hot water heaters can be done with this program. So can the purchase and installation of energy efficient appliances and eco friendly flooring.
Like many other things, sometimes the most effective way to achieve a goal is to "Just Do It" and let the naysayers figure out later that they are tilting at windmills.
Collective action, collective thought and collective consciousness creates an indelible imprint on our limbic and non-limbic brains. I believe you have brought up an astounding and outstanding theory of mind and theory of practice. You have inspired me once again to write a blog about this janeAnne. You are my blog subject guru.
JaneAnne, you always amaze me by the different ideas you come up with to celebrate and encourage the contribution and expansion of the eCO, Green Ideas. A relentless leader and I think you are the Lead Monkey :-)
