Why is it that, for most of us, stars and the rainbows create magic ? Is there some mystical connection with "essential matters" that simply seems to happen?
Late yesterday, this rainbow appeared in my back yard after the summer storm. The skies cleared and then, as midnight approached,
the sky became just stars.
(Photo of rainbow by janeAnne)
I climbed to the top of the ridge, facing north. A million stars called my name. Here in the venerable mountains, almost as old as time itself, I realized that magic was afoot. How easy it was to connect with something much larger than little me.. YES! last night was splendid. Pure Potential was in the air! Something exciting ...on so many levels ...arranged itself somewhere between the coves and rising ridges. Then, in my possibility-thinking, I could find the place simultaneously to start and to leave behind. So this is my legacy. This point through which my spirit flies... A reflection in the stars. A rainbow. An abundance of choices.... places to meet myself and others...heart open... and where you and I can create "safe landings" for generations to come....
Understanding this, you need only to choose the where and when.
But you probably already know this.
A gentle soul once told me, "...there's a pathway to contentment .It is like the rainbows over the ridges.
It's an uncommon force. When you see it you can measure it by your heartbeat,
an all-at-once coming together and letting go."

Absolutely splendid writing! I'll say no more!
JaneAnne,
Thanks for the post. An inspiring message. Peace and the inner sanctum.
janeAnne, What better reason to move to Ashville?
janeAnne, everybody knows the answer to your question: it's because of the pot of gold.
Bill Roberts
janeAnne: I teared up at this one....I love your writing when you get into your soul and your passion.
This point through which my spirit flies (mine was the point I changed my whole life around....through my thinking...and spirit content....now)
"you can measure it by your heartbeat,
an all-at-once coming together and letting go."
And the day I gave up 75% of my fears and continue to let things go...
This may not be the same concept you are thinking but I am in the space, place and time I am meant to be (with a little help and soul searching) at this moment.
Thank you for a very enlightening experience.
Ed~
Coming from you..a HUGE compliment. Thank you.
William~
Precious moments where a balance is struck and an understanding of our-place in the Big Picture...you are right. . .
Gary~
As that old song goes..."The stars at night, are big and Bright...deep in the heart of ASHEVILLE"
(I'm chuckling)
Bill~
Pot of gold, eh? You must have some friends among the leprechauns.
Sally~
Not only do you understand that point..(possibly a point of light)...but you bring it into the world.
FOR EXAMPLE: I got the music you sent. Played it at our office yesterday...and it had the same affect on me that poetry does...thank you! Ihope to return that beauty to you...this post was a gesture of my intent.
Wow.
Oh, great...one guy didn't get his.... and oh, thank you so much janeAnne. The rainbow...yes.
JaneAnne, I have read this many times today. I have had a hard time finding the right words to comment on this one. This was an amazing post and the message runs very deep.
Pure Potential was in the air! Something exciting ...on so many levels ...arranged itself somewhere between the coves and rising ridges.
I connected with your post in many ways. Thank you. It helped me more than you could imagine. :)
I love the freshness and crispness after a rain and a rainbow.
I remember years ago in Tennessee there was a rainbow right over the field we were drilling in, and the end came down near the drilling rig. Two days later we hit the biggest well Tennessee had ever seen. Who said rainbows don't matter?
Stephanie~
I love to-paint word-pictures. Since I spend so much time surrounded by beauty, it is easy to do. It's not easy to convey the sense of place and "energy", though. I am so happy that this experience came across to you. THANKS for letting me know. It keeps me "on the path". . .
Kat~
You commented. . ."I think the magic behind rainbows and stars is that we can't touch them....but we feel them. . ." (bold is mine) I had to smile when I read your comment. YOU could have unearthed the very essence of magic...
Another thought... any REALTOR who understands magic is one I would choose to be on my team! Whether that be as a clients or a referral, I would look for a REALTOR who understands the magic in the heavens...as well as on Earth.
Lola~
You commented that writing can transport both writer and reader to a new place...for me, poetry does that...and just BEING where I am. If I can share some of the beauty that surrounds me ...such as the rainbow in my backyard the other day, then maybe we all can get to that "new place". . .
a place where you and I, all of us, can be on the same page.
Joan~
You commented on the legacy of poetry for the soul. I love that idea. Thank you so much.
Ines~
Taking your breath away is something that happens in the sunset mountains, on the sunrise shore, on the wildest ocean or a placid lake, or maybe just wading in a cold stream... so when you say this post had that affect...I am humbled, and I thank you for placing me right where I love to be .. in Nature's ways =)
janeAnne-
Life is so good, thanks for the splendid reminder.
A gentle soul once told me, "...there's a pathway to contentment .It is like the rainbows over the ridges.

janeAnne, This post is a treasure and my comments will pale in comparison, so I will just "be" in silent awe.

Kathleen~
There is nothing like walking with your dogs in nature to find that "quiet space" of possibiity! I am lucky to have two dogs who remind me of that every day.
Gabe~
This may be your first comment since you joined Active Rain. You better than most understand the gifts nature provides. Having been a guide in the Alaskan wilderness, you have so much to bring to our discussions...and a very special perspective from which we can all benefit.
Ginger~
One of the amazing things I've found about the day-to-day practice of real estate, it that it brings us so many opportunities to just BE...
Thanks for BEing here with me and us! Your energy for this network helps make it shine.
Thanks for reminding me why I want to move to North Carolina!

janeAnne- Your legacy is intact. The earth will carry your footprints onward. Your words and photos remind me that the earth is as much alive as we are..
what I see: The stormy rain nourishing the ground we stand on- the rainbow a gift of gratitude .
Greg~
I'm glad I could remind you of the beauty and special nature of North Carolina. ..there is a special "welcome home" feeling here that-once understood, seems never to disappears no matter where you find yourself. . .
Dear Michele~
You commented that this post reminds you of. . .". . .The stormy rain nourishing the ground we stand on- the rainbow a gift of gratitude . .. " and I am smiling. . .
Margaret~
When you commented..."No rain, No rainbows. . .' it reminded me of "no pain, no gain. . .' and then I thought of the work we do in our profession and felt thisthe perfect example of the two sayings.
Susan~
I am SO happy you are around and hope that you will come see the mountains this summer. In the meantime I send you one of our (almost daily now )rainbows.
Cheryl-Ann~
I feel fortunate every day. I love that feeling of gratitude. It infuses each day with an energy that really keeps me going...sometimes despite the "facts". . .
Everyone~
I just wanted y'all to know how very much I have appreciated your comments on-this post. The comments we leave behind are our legacy...don't you think?
Very reflective --soon I will be undertaking a spiritual bootcamp of sorts. It amazizng how you start preparing prior to the actual start.

I used my digital camera to get the photo of the rainbow. My son happened to be-visiting me at the time. He uses a film camera. I can hardly wait to see how his photos turn out.
