How important is passive solar gain in North Carolina? I always think of that area of the county being moderate in it's temps.

Dena~ Good question! Not just here in Asheville (or other towns in North Carolina) but in the world, in general... solar g ain from site location and situation of a building or home on the site, together with solar electric (photovoltaic), solar hot water, wind, & hydro electric systems for both on and off grid applications collectively can produce clean renewable energy and offset the emissions of hundreds of thousands of tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere...so it is an energy efficiency and wellness gain...for all concerned.

Hey Mike~! This is not verified, but I heard ... by the grapevine.. that this fixture was saved, along with a number of such fixtures, during a restoration at the Biltmore Estate here in Asheville.... I was iso mpresssed with the quality that I zoomed in to show it during that tiny real estate video.... It is so beautiful in person! The entire Farm Home is beautiful. Possibly most of all, I appreciated a genuine "sense of subtle elegance"...represented by that antique hardware, and the invitation to "cozy-up" by the fire.... but then, wait until you see the 6 acres outside...and view of Mt Mitchell...
