Asheville Homes and LAND!- The Keep In Touch Blog

Weather, Mountains, and Asheville NC

Asheville Real Estate Journal- Asheville Mountain Weather

The other day one of those famous Asheville thunderstorms appeared right at our cabin. That's when I Asheville Weather Changes Fastcaught this shot- the maple tree at our deck. Notice, to the left- hail and a downpour?- while to the right- full sun!

As an Asheville area REALTOR® it seems as if I'm always checking on the Weather! We are in the mountains! Our topography affects the weather- (elevation is one of the prime factors affecting weather) - And so -North of Asheville (elevation s from about 2,400-5,000 ft) expect cooler/wetter weather - south ( lower elevations than Asheville) are generally warmer/wetter weather than Asheville.

I always advise Asheville area Land Buyers/Investors  dress in layers, because here in the mountains of Western North Carolina (WNC) the weather can change quickly. Big booming thunderstorms can form in an hour or less on days that start out with Carolina Blue skies.  At higher elevations, be prepared to experience  much more severe changes in the weather- with a  10-15 degree variation, and it can be way windier.

Here's a link to a video I did of a Double Rainbow During Asheville Mountain May Thunderstorm:

I lived in Georgia for about ten years, and in the Northern part of the state we would have that happen sometimes as well.

That is so funny! I lived in Boone for 15+ years and we used to say, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute". Also, you coould be standing in a downpour and move 4 feet and not get wet at all!
