The Real Estate Neighborhood Review Journal of Asheville:
Lakeview Park
The sidewalks in Walkable Asheville's Lakeview Park run down to greet Beaver Lake. First created in 1920, Beaver Lake is man-made. It grew from the damming of Beaver Creek. For me, this “private lake” shines like a diamond in the carolina blue sky, for, although it is “private” the Lakeview Park walkable community welcomes Asheville residents and those relocating to Asheville to stroll, sit and enjoy ,canoe the lake, or jog aroung its perimeter. And if ,any given day, during the winter, spring, summer or fall of the year, you may see the young and the young-at-heart at play.
“Upscale” Walkable Asheville Neighborhood
By 1922, an “upscale” housing development known as Lakeview Park that centered around Beaver Lake began to emerge.
It so pleases my real estate clients here in Asheville to say that what was first envisioned so many years ago today continues to delight visitors and residents alike.
We walk the Lakeview Park neighborhood and down to Beaver Lake almost every week.
Lakeview Park 2012: We stroll the neighborhood, visit with our neighbors along the way and continue to be amazed with the views of the surrounding mountains, sweet picnic spots, colorful canoes gliding by and the much-prized sense that it evokes. . . “all’s right” ...
Homes: Here in Lakeview Park you will find an interesting mix of historic and newer homes, tree-lined streets, and lovely views of Asheville’s rolling hills …and, of course, Beaver Lake.
Neighbors: This is a mature community. There area several second and/or vacation homes in this area, yet neighbors have a strong community voice.
Pet -Friendly: Yes

I love communities that mix new with the old and have a sense of history and strong foundations. Will look this one up the next time I am in Asheville.
Hi Gwen~
I so agree with you. I love the historic walkable neighborhoods here in Asheville.
Everyone I know that either lives there or has visited absolutely loves it. My husband raves about the area.
janeAnne,
Fun post - love walkable neighborhoods. There aren't as many as one would like. Great shout out to folks looking for an Asheville property with fabulous features.
All the best, Michelle
The Lakeview Park neighborhood looks like a great place to call home. I love the concept of a walkable neighborhood.
Hi janeAnne,
What a delightful looking place!
Great pictures and good write up. Makes you want to go there
Phil
Hi Paula~ Come on over and enjoy the beauty! Asheville IS what they tell you =)
Hi Michelle~ Next time your are up this way, I'd love to meet for conversation...
Dear Joan~
...wishing you all the best in 2012...and YES...
Asheville's Walkable Neighborhoods are a joy...part of Asheville's Smart Growth commitment, too.
Had the pleasure of living in Asheville for three (very short) months. Loved it there! Would love to get back up there sometime but haven't had the chance since I left : (
Looks really nice. Will have to look that section up next time we are in Asheville. We have only visited Asheville once..just last year and loved the "Soho" feeling of downtown and beautiful rivers. First place we visited outside of New York that may have potential down the road..some nice neighborhoods north of city with 1/4 the taxes!
Congrats on the feature Mountain Mama. You really make so many aspects of Asheville welcoming and desirable. Beaver Lake looks like a beautiful spot to call home...and obviously, it's a highly desirable neighborhood. It's wonderful that they welcome outside strollers and paddlers. I'm so happy that it's pet friendly too - :)
Have a wonderful day in the mountains janeAnne. D
Lovely community. Dolores and I need to visit Asheville again as we search for the the perfect retirement home location.
Have an outstanding week!
Be sure to have your camera in hand to capture those special moments as you are out and about in your community and your travels.
Hi Nancy~
Having many times visited your neck o' the woods...I can say that Asheville has some of the same charm...and I do Love the ability to walk around my neighborhood and visit with folks along the way.
Phil~
Kirkland has some of the same charm as Asheville. I love your area having lived there for many years...however...Asheville shines when it comes to amazing walkable neighborhoods...with little coffee shoppes and places to sit and chat..too..
Margie~
First of all, your wedding photo is BEAUTIFUL!!! I am sitting here at my computer in Asheville with a smile that has got to reach all the way there to you...thank you so much for sharing your special day with us. And...next...I hope you and your new husband come to visit (and /or STAY) in Asheville!
Many Blessings
Hi Barbara~
YES! A number of the walkable neighborhoods are just north of Asheville including Lakeview Park...Grove Park and Sunset Park...I live in this area myself and can tell you personally that it is a JOY. Let me know when you are ready to move here =)
Debb~
