It's that time of the year again. Time for real estate imagineering - 2009 style. Seems as the leaves begin to border the canvas of Asheville's Carolina Blue
skies with their dancing statement of color, that moving force affects us in most every aspect of our lives. We head out to visit our favorite places in the mountains, and actually count how often we gasp with delight as we confront beauty in motion.
Yes, it is that time of the year again. We are inspired and, as real estate professionals, that "energy" leads to "imagineering" 2009.
We're reviewing our position in the real estate market with a spirit of optimism. noting , for example, that for the fourth year in a row, North Carolina continues to earn praise for an exceptional business climate --
NCAR reports that: "North Carolina has been selected as the state with the top business climate, according to Site Selection magazine. Rankings are based on two factors: a survey of corporate site selection executives and a measure of new plant activity."
How does that spirit of optimism translate into a PLAN for 2009? At this colorful time of the year, it reveals itself as a healthy 2009 To Do List .
Nothing like having a few "chores" to take care of as the days shorten and we find time to relax by the fireplace and let those creative juices flow, eh? (I'm smiling)
We thought that possibly our 2009 To Do List could be of interest and/or value to you. So here it is.
Please note: It could use expansion...so please feel free to add to the list with your comments. . .

JaneAnne, you can just feel the crispiness in the air looking at that photo. You really captured it.
Patricia~
THANKS! I took that photo on one of our awesome drives here in the mountains. Inspiring, for sure!
janeAnne-Love the fall colors. That looks like a solid marketing plan. Are most of your relocations from other parts of the Southeast?
Pete~
Glad you like this plan...and I want to know YOURS... =) Feels to me that NOW is the time for some serious Real Estate Imagineering - and while I am busy , creating and posting (especially LOCALISM stuff) ...I am wondering how it is across the nation and what will happen next in the real estate market...
Wonderful and inspiring post to get us thinking for 2009 janeAnne! Thanks for the tips and I think I'd add to update all websites and outside blogs and connect with other social networks as well.
Hi janeAnne...Connect and re-connect with the old staple, personal notes.
Kate
P.S. This is one of those things that I constantly say I will do.
I ordered the NAR relocation report for our area. It tells you where people are coming from as well as where people from here are moving to. Great resource for just the kind of planning you are talking about. And are those the Smokies in the background?
JaneAnne- Thanks for the reminder that it's time for some strategic planning. I agree back to the basics with a little sizzle. It would be nice if the playing field would get a little more stable though.
JaneAnne -- Great list and gorgeous photo! I need to focus on a bit of imagineering for 2009 and shift my focus to include people relocating to my city. Thanks for the reminder!
I'm headed back East tomorrow and hope that I can find something as pretty as your picture to enjoy.
I think many of us need to do more Localism posts.
Sally~
Appreciate your very worthy suggestion: "... update all websites and outside blogs and connect with other social networks as well."
Kate!~
YES!!!! You suggested...and I love it!!..." ...Connect and re-connect with the old staple, personal notes..." When I get a handwritten note from a client saying THANK YOU, I feel all warm inside ...and I believe the reverse is true...
I try to keep in mind special experiences my clients and I have had...like the day the great BULL chased us across a pasture ...then if I see a card with a BULL on it...I may send it (I'm laughing right now just recalling that experience)
Alexsandra~
Another super addition to the list...I'll be adding it in the post...
and those are the Appalachinas in the background...from my cabin window =)
Judy~
You wrote, " ...back to the basics with a little sizzle.." and that made me smile. I'm looking for any new sizzles you may have in mind =)
Kerry~
I imagine Atlanta is a very popular place for business opportunities...(and so relocation could be an excellent market niche) being close to you up here in the mountains just 3.5 hours away...I am thinking that besides relocation as you suggest...we might want to add referral network to the list as well...and glad to help out if you have clients looking for a cabin the the beautiful mountains as per the photo =)
Christine~
I agree with you about creating material that is attractive to post for LOCALISM...I sense that folks looking for properties will appreciate the local color and the perspective only we can provide.
