It's Permeable !!

I was taking a photo of a permeable driveway for a "green" buyer in Asheville this week. She wants to install this type of sustainable feature as she retrofits her home. She knows that it will not only add value to her property, but will help with water conservation and quality.

I got the photo just fine...and something else...I just couldn't bear to crop that nifty something...
pointing the way, as it were, to comfort....for all concerned...

Hi janeAnne,  are these pavers or that rubbery stuff?

JaneAnne, permeable pavers are so important to keeping runoff from taking toxins into our water supply and depleting our aquifers.

JaneAnne, thanks for the info.  Enjoyed looking at your profile - I use to live in Blythewood SC.  Glad to know you're supporting building them Green.  The company I represent is doing the same here in Pike County, PA (Poconos), and has designed a wonderful series of homes featuring Green Building techonologies.  Best to you.

Joanne~

I am not sure the general public knows this yet...so I am just going to repeat what you said about permeable pavers, " ...keeping runoff from taking toxins into our water supply and depleting our aquifers."...and thanks!

LOL> That's funny.  :)  Seriously.  there is a new product out that looks similar to what you have up in the picture...but it's sort of rubbery.  Interesting stuff.

Thanks for clarifying.

Hey janeAnne, I love that.  Let that rain water soak into the earth instead of into the storm drain.  I'm going to reblog this.  Thanks!

And it looks like pretty retro rubber at that! Great photo again! You sure know how to take them!

Permeable Pavers are awesome! Who ever thought of cement and asphalt in the first place?
